about

The DJ plays Fire In Cairo by The Cure.He says that reminds me-last week a girl walked onto the dancefloor, poured lighter fluid over her boyfriend, and set him alight. We stop in an old pub little changed for 30 years.Love Me Do is playing on the jukebox.I tell him that every time I hear this song I feel I'm transported to 1962.He smiles. And we become like characters in some kitchen sink drama in inky black and white.Dodging Albert Finney on the way to the bog.Chatting up Rita Tushingham at the bar.
He walks me to the bus-stop.he doesn't say a word.I figure he's mad at me for some reason.I look out the window to wave, but he's already walking away.

lyrics

Down to the Drum Club
Smoking our last cigarettes
Singing Amsterdam
Brel would surely have approved
Will we be this close no more?

Come the final day
Take your silent brother there
Where the bus heads south
Back to all you've left behind
You're not angry-you're alone
